ABSTRACT
Wide experience has been gained at OKB “GIDROPRESS” for twenty years in analyzing BDBA including severe accidents at VVER RP using the severe accident computer codes. Some foreign codes: MARCH, MELSIM (based on MELCOR 1.8.4), RELAP/SCDAPSIM – are available in the Computer Code Library at the enterprise. The Russian codes BISTRO and SOCRAT/В1 are also included into the library. Now the above-mentioned codes are a tool for investigations and design work aimed at justification of VVER RP safety. If in the nineties the majority of the work was performed using foreign computer codes, then for the last ten years a priority in execution of the work belonged to the Russian computer codes.
Analysis of in-core stage of accident with evaluation of occurrence of typical events, behavior of basic RP parameters, release of coolant mass and energy and core materials outside the reactor vessel (after damage of reactor vessel) is of the greatest interest for OKB “GIDROPRESS” as for the Chief Design organization of RP. Now the computer code SOCRAT/B1 certified in Rostekhnadzor and put into commercial operation at OKB “GIDROPRESS” is used to execute the computed simulation of BDBA with severe damage of the core.
Computer analysis of a wide spectrum of accidents is performed to justify safe operation of Units of VVER-1000 reactor plants (V-320). In connection with the accident at “Fukushima” Daiichi NPP a special attention is devoted to safety assessment of NPP with VVER-1000 RP under beyond design basis accidents including severe accidents.
The paper represents the results of calculation of core behavior under severe accidents using the computer code SOCRAT/В1.
