DEVELOPMENT OF METHODICAL APPROACHES IN VVER CALCULATIONS

ABSTRACT
The report provides a brief description of the current state of the KASKAD software package intended for VVERs neutronic calculations. The issues related to various sources of calculation error are considered including:
– the spectral code errors;
– uncertainties associated with some features of the calculation model used in the preparation of few-group constants (for instance, the use of constant values of the state parameters when calculating the FA depletion);
– errors of few-group constant approximation scheme;
– the coarse-mesh calculation uncertainties (for instance, neglecting the effect of 10B depletion in the soluble boron during the fuel loading operation).
The report gives a special attention to various aspects of improving methodological approaches used in calculations.
